Chaucer's Pub
About This Spot
Chaucer's Pub unfolds like a warm embrace nestled in the heart of London, Ontario — a place where time slows just enough to appreciate the flicker of firelight and the gentle murmur of conversation. The moment you step through its doors, you sense an unhurried rhythm, a quiet comfort that invites you to settle in, unwind, and linger over the subtle pleasures of good company and thoughtfully prepared fare.
This is not a flashy spot clamoring for attention, but rather a cozy British-style bar that wears its charm plainly. The atmosphere is imbued with a soft glow, enhanced by the welcoming fireside warmth that draws regulars and newcomers alike into shared moments of quiet joy. It’s a place built as much on conviviality as on tradition, where attentive staff tend to guests with a familiar, unpretentious grace.
The menu whispers of hearty European influences, echoing classics like tender schnitzels and rich, comforting soups that pair beautifully with a carefully curated selection of draught beers and fine wines. Here, the food complements the mood — generous, familiar, and crafted to be savored slowly over conversation that flows as easily as the drinks. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking refuge from a bustling weekend, the laid-back yet thoughtfully composed setting fosters an experience of belonging and ease.
Throughout the week, Chaucer’s hums gently with the life of the community — from intimate musical evenings that embrace the folk tradition to quiet escapes where the simple act of unwinding feels both rare and necessary. The pub’s character is shaped by these human moments, where warmth isn’t just provided by the fireplace but also in the subtle connections sparked at every table.
For those who appreciate a setting that balances a touch of tradition with everyday welcome, Chaucer’s Pub offers a haven — a local refuge to enjoy comforting tastes and meaningful company amid the rhythm of the city.

Relaxing by the fire with great food, a wide selection of beer, friendliest service, and the absolute best ambience! The best place to be on a busy weekend!

Very pleasant, warm (temperature and ambiance) with a fireplace. We try to make it at least a couple times a month, have a beer or wine and the food is good too. Take a look at the stir fry and pasta pictures - tasty and filling.

A very cozy British pub atmosphere with very attentive staff and great comfort food. The place has a bit of an odour likely due to being a carpeted barroom, but otherwise excellent.

I really enjoy this wonderful pub while attending Ian Davies musical bookings and facilitated by the Cuckoos Nest Folk Club. Jerry Pribil and staff create a welcoming cozy pub setting in which to enjoy a true listening room.

A London institution, the atmosphere takes you back in time. The night we went they were struggling to keep up with service and we felt bad for the server, who was very friendly but also clearly overwhelmed. Service aside, the food was simple but excellent. The schnitzel had a light and crispy coating with tender meat. Excellent tangy sauerkraut and flavourful red cabbage.
